Sobering statistics on global and local poverty. Video created by Worcester State University senior, Charlyn Valencia.
We learned that 85% of the student body at local middle school lived on or below the poverty level and over 100 are homeless. CSU may be small in number but students mobilized to bring $200 worth of food to fill up their pantry! Now the food drive is open to all of Becker College! Bring any item from the following list to the Hawks Nest on any Tuesday morning (9am-12pm):

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”
College-age young adults are a tough demographic. We strongly believe in connecting young people to healthy local churches but often times there seems to be this mutual tension between young people and church. Stereotypically, young adults want nothing to do with the old, conservative ways of church. Conversely, the local church often, though not always, does not (or will not) engage or challenge young adults. This is a tragedy on many levels because the young adults years are when some of the most important life questions are asked– what will I do for the rest of my life? Who will I commit myself in relationship to? How? Will I have any children?
We want to partner with local churches to provide students opportunities to grow and serve in the local church. We also want to serve the local church. We know New England churches tend to be small and have limited resources so we’re not demanding a state-of-the-art young adults ministry to plug students into.
We want to provide some simple, helpful ways to incorporate young people into your congregation. We’d also like to challenge you to challenge your church to step out of their comfort zones to serve young people during these pivotal years.
If your desire to see people passionately love God, sacrificially serve others, and humbly raise the next generation to be Christ-centered and committed to the gospel, then what better way to invest in young people who are looking for love, meaning and beginning to shape their world views for the next generation.
Yours in the Gospel,
CSU @ BC
